What are Pantone colours used for?

Pantone colours are a standardised system used across industries to ensure consistent and accurate colour reproduction, whether in design, printing, fashion, or branding. They simplify colour communication globally, making it easier to match and maintain brand identity or design consistency. Although actually printing in a Pantone colour is very expensive compared to normal printing, the colour matching system can help designers and printers match a particular colour as close as possible using a Pantone colour book.

So why do we care about Pantone Colour of the Year?

The Pantone Colour of the Year holds significance as a trend forecast, guiding businesses and consumers in understanding how colour influences their choices. Knowing what colours are trending in various industries, from fashion and interior design to technology and branding, can have subtle impacts on how we express ourselves, market our brand, and it can even reflect cultural and societal moods. It also shows us ways that colour can affect our emotions, and shape how individuals are perceived by others.

2024: Peach Fuzz (14-1713)

We’re very proud of our trendsetting skills over here at We Love Marketing, as we were rocking the old Peach Fuzz before it was even a thing! Yep, Pantone 14-1713 is one of our two main colours, and we love its soft, warm pastel with gentle pink undertones. To us, we feel the colour says we’re fun, but it also has a soothing, serene and reassuring energy. Just take a tour of our website and socials to see how we have applied this colour.

2025: Mocha Mousse (17-1230)

Onto 2025, and guess what, it’s the colour of another great love of ours at We Love Marketing.. coffeeeeee! Ok, coffee mixed with chocolate. In a mousse. But close enough.

This colour has a rich, grounding brown with a subtle warmth. It gives vibes of stability, sophistication, and an earthy authenticity.

How can this colour be used? Mocha Mousse can work in branding by conveying warmth, sophistication, and reliability. Its rich, earthy tone creates a sense of stability and trust, making it ideal for brands in industries like luxury goods, coffee, hospitality, and wellness, or for those aiming to evoke a natural, grounded aesthetic.

Colours are powerful tools that reflect emotions and aspirations. For Peach Fuzz, we can embrace its soft warmth and optimism and for Mocha Mousse, we can enjoy its grounded elegance and authenticity. We think carefully about this when we work on a new branding project, website or social feed to translate the essence of your brand into a perfectly projected aesthetic.
